Langham Group plans to set up hotel in Doha


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Hong Kong-based Langham Hospitality Group is coming to Doha. The Group that encompasses a family of distinctive hotels under the Langham Hotels and Resorts confirmed its interests in Qatar.

"Yes, we are coming to Qatar. We have scheduled a meeting with our partners in Doha next month," Robert Warman, Chief Executive Officer, Langham Hospitality Group, said.

Talking to The Peninsula on the sidelines of a signing ceremony here with the Dubai-based property development group Omniyat to develop $273m Langham Place in Dubai, Robert said: "We are keen on Qatar. The discussions are progressing. We hope we could come out with details after our next meeting in Doha".

As the wholly-owned subsidiary of Great Eagle Holdings, Langham Hospitality Group has a group of distinctive hotels under the Langham Hotels, and Resorts, Cordis and Eaton brands with more than 30 projects currently either confirmed or in a developed stage of negotiation from Asia, Europe and North America to the Middle East. The Group takes its name from legendary Langham in London which was widely recognised as Europe's first Grand Hotel.

After the signing ceremony, Dr Lo Ka Shui, Executive Chairman of Langham Hospitality Group, said, through the Langham's strategic partnership with Omniyat in Dubai, the Group is looking forward to expand its footprint across the Middle East.

The Dubai-based, privately-held property development group, is also looking for opportunities in Qatar. "We understand there are potential matured partners in Qatar. We are looking for the right time and ideal partners to expand our portfolio in the region. Qatar is top on our chart," Mahdi Amjad, Executive Chairman and CEO of Omniyat said.

Omniyat specialises in creating large-scale collaborations with globally acclaimed architects, designers and firms , to deliver its high value and desirable projects. The group has delivered projects worth Dh3bn and has a pipelines of a further Dh13bn in various stages of planning and development.

On Omniyat's partnership to develop Langham Place, Downtown Dubai in Dubai's Burj Khalifa district, Mahdi Amjad said: "As a Dubai-based company, we are committed to contributing to the city's iconic skyline with innovative real estate concepts. The announcement of Langham Place Downtown Dubai brings the total value of Omniyat's portfolio to $4.4bn. Launched in 2005, Omniyat's main focus is to generate superior value proposition and yield high returns while delivering projects that cater to the needs of both business and leisure clients, Mark said.
