Qatar to host Asia Pacific Forum office

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Asia Pacific Forum (APF) has chosen Qatar to host a regional sub-office, which is being set up to start its duties next year.

This came during 20th APF Annual Meeting in the city of Ulan Bator, the capital of Mongolia, chaired by Dr Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri, Chairman, Qatar National Human Rights Committee (QNHRC), also President of the forum at its previous session.

Addressing the opening session of the forum, Dr Al Marri expressed appreciation and thanks to the Secretariat of the Forum, which has worked hard to ensure the success of his mission at the head of the forum.

He stressed that his quest to promote national human rights institutions will not stop at this point, adding that efforts will continue through the sub-regional office of the forum in Doha.

He hoped that the office would carry out its activities at the beginning of 2016 and would be a new addition to strengthening cooperation and interaction between members of the forum.

Qatar, represented by QNHRC handed over the presidency of the Asia Pacific Forum to Mongolia, represented by its National Human Rights Commission.
