RAK schools get more teachers to plug gaps

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)The Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Education Zone has recruited 11 new male and female teachers in order to bridge the gap in the teaching cadres before the beginning of the new academic year.

Sumaia Hareb Al Suwaidi Director of the RAK Education Zone said the teaching technical and administrative staff in all the 89 schools in the emirate are geared up to receive the 45000 students.

"The teachers newly recruited in collaboration with the Ministry of Education will help plug the gap resulting from resignations and retirements" she said.

Official sources told Khaleej Times that a significant surge in the number of resignations from RAK schools was recorded in the last academic year as compared to 2013-14. "Up to 93 teachers as well administrative and technical staff resigned last year as compared to 73 in 2013-14."

Ibrahim Hassan Al Bagham Al Nuaimi deputy director of the RAK Education Zone said that some gave personal reasons for resignations while others blamed it on work pressure he added. "However many of those who wished to be put on pension are not only competent but can be productive for four to five years more."

The RAK Education Zone spares no effort to persuade the resigning staff to withdraw their resignations mainly the distinguished ones. "In case they insist the Ministry of Education is directly notified to fill in the gap and recruit new people."

"Otherwise the RAK Education Zone in collaboration with the principal or headmaster concerned either distributes the classes of the resigned staff among others or increases the capacity of some classes by transferring some students to them." If new recruits are needed a letter is submitted to the Ministry of Education which takes the responsibility of any possible shortage he indicated.

Though the school is said to be open for only grades six to ten as of the next academic year 2017 some official sources at the same school said that the students of the preliminary stage shall be shifted to the old Shaml School after it is thoroughly maintained.
