American claims for jobless benefits down to 271,000

(MENAFN) American job markets have been on the rise recently, translated by the decrease of seasonally adjusted initial claims for jobless benefits reaching 271,000 in the week ending Aug.22 down 6,000 from the week before.

According to the U.S. Labor Department, there were no special factors impacting last week's initial claims, but the fact is that the American economy added 215,000 jobs in July, while the unemployment rate was 5.3 percent.

The Labor Department will post August job data on Sept. 4. That's an important indicator that the Federal Reserve policy makers will refer to before they decide whether to start interest hike in the next month or not.
