Oman- Three year old Muscat boy suffers facial injuries housemaid taken into custody

A three year old boy from Amerat is recovering at the Khoula Hospital after being found unconscious at his home with severe facial injuries on Tuesday afternoon.

The maid who left Wafeeq alone for a few minutes during which the incident happened is now in police custody. The maid called the boy's father to inform him of the situation. The father Fuad al Farsi is calling it negligence and is seeking a thorough investigation.

'The incident happened when the maid went to a nearby shop for just a few minutes. I don't understand how and why. Moreover how could she leave the child alone?' he asked.

Farsi said Wafeeq's left eye is swollen shut and his face is covered in bruises. 'He is now conscious and in Khoula Hospital but we have no clue of what exactly happened. We don't know who or what injured him. Something is not right' Farsi said.

According to Farsi the maid is in police custody since Tuesday evening.

Officials at the Amerat police station confirmed that the maid was being questioned to know how the boy received the injuries.
