(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) has released passenger and flight data of Muscat and Salalah international airports till July-end.
Passenger traffic at Muscat and Salalah airports recorded an increase of 11.8 per cent and 19.5 per cent respectively compared to the same period in 2014 taking the total number to 6246329.
The number of travellers through Muscat International Airport including the transfers and transit increased to 5707270 through 53483 journeys till July.
The number of international flights through Muscat airport reached 47230 an increase of 14.4 per cent compared to the corresponding period last year.
As many as 5207717 passengers travelled through these flights an increase of 12 per cent. Inbound passenger numbers reached 2591542 while 2596011 were departing passengers. The number of transit passengers reached 20164.
There was a 12.5 per cent increase in domestic flights to reach 6053 carrying 499553 passengers. These traveller numbers saw a ten per cent increase. Incoming traveller numbers reached 246432 with a ten per cent increase while there were 253121 departing passengers. This figure too saw a ten per cent increase.
The number of passengers travelling through Salalah airport till July-end was 539059. The flight number stood at 5637 flights.
The airport recorded 2106 international flights with an increase of 24.5 per cent over the corresponding figure in 2014.
As many as 178855 passengers travelled on board international flights an increase of 35.7 per cent.
