Qatar- TAMUQ holds Graduate Orientation Day for new Master's students


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ) welcomed new Master's students for the upcoming academic year at Graduate Orientation Day at its campus at Education City.

The event provided a session on two Master's programmes in chemical engineering and an overview of academic expectations at the university.

The Office of Graduate Studies and Continuing Education Services invited new students to interact with current and recently graduated students.

Faculty and administrators provided information and support for the incoming class. Participants also toured facilities and laboratories to get a better perspective on being an Aggie graduate student.

Sabla Alnouri, a recent PhD graduate, said, "The graduate programme at TAMUQ has provided me with an opportunity to be engaged in a unique learning environment, which helped intensify my core sciences and interpersonal skills in a field I am passionate about."

New graduate students learned about graduate programme offerings, degree eligibility requirements and resources offered, including financial aid opportunities and flexible schedules.

Dr Ahmed Abdel-Wahab, Professor, Chemical Engineering Programme, said, "The quality of teaching and research offered at the university is outstanding. Our graduate programme provides opportunity for the young generation to obtain an excellent education."

Hania Ayyash, Manager, Graduate Studies and Continuing Education Services, said, "Thanks to our students and outstanding presenters, the day was an opportunity for new students to learn more about benefits and opportunities available to obtain graduate degree from TAMUQ.

"They learned about academic expectations and general requirements, campus life and resources. Our graduate students enjoy a flexible schedule, they may qualify for funding assistance and will participate in responsive research projects that contribute to Qatar National Vision 2030's goal to build a knowledge-based economy."

Applications for Master of Science and Master of Engineering programmes are being accepted for the Spring 2016 semester and open until October 31.
