Iran prepares USD50b projects for investment

(MENAFN) following the removal of sanctions, Iran is preparing water and electricity projects worth USD50 billion for investment, which will be presented to domestic and foreign investors, hoping they'll create good energy in this sector.

The Energy ministry has enrolled more than 800 national projects which are expected to take about 20 years to complete, which will be given to the private sector in order to implement them at less costs.

Under the targeted subsidy program launched by the past government, water and electricity prices were to be made realistic by March next year to boost investments in the sector.

Iran is already facing a serious scarcity which is draining its water resources and power generation capacities, driven by record temperatures, therefore the country will add another 2,000 megawatts to its national grid by 2016.
