Oman- Illegal bakery in Dhofar shut down


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Consumer Protection Administration in Dhofar has shut down an illegal bakery which was operating out of an old house.

A press release stated that administration officials raided the house and arrested expatriates who were running the bakery.

The Public Authority for Consumer Protection had received a tip-off about the bakery's operations and its supply of products to shops in the  area.

Officials of the administration in collaboration with the Public Prosecution and ROP raided the house and arrested the workers the release said.

'Expired flour and other ingredients a rusty roller mill and frozen chicken unfit for human consumption stored in refrigerators were seized during the raid' the release added.

Ali bin Saleem al Basrawi manager Consumer Protection Administration in Dhofar said 'Traders must take required permission before starting any unit to manufacture foodstuff items.'
