Qatar- Customs foils attempt to smuggle Tramadol tablets


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The General Authority of Customs (GAC) has foiled an attempt to smuggle a large amount of narcotic Tramadol tablets at Hamad International Airport, and seized 600 bullets from a passenger coming through the Abu Samra border port.

Tramadol is a narcotic-like pain reliever used to treat moderate to severe pain.

The GAC's inspectors seized the 2,894 tramadol tablets after inspecting a suspected bag belonging to a passenger coming from an Arab country, the authority said in a press release today.

Chairman of the General Authority of Customs Ahmed bin Ali al-Mohannadi honoured the inspectors for their efforts, stressing on continuing the efforts for protecting the country's security. He emphasised that the customs is supporting its employees at all ports and providing them with continuous training in co-operation with the competent authority.
