Kuwait- Fees Increase By Private Schools Annoys Parents

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Many private schools have failed to comply with the instructions issued by Ministry of Education to not increase the school fees for any of the educational levels, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting informed sources. They revealed that some schools increased their fees by 25 percent which provoked frustration among the parents of the students, especially since the administrations of those schools had promised parents when the latter paid the first installment of the school fees during the last phase that the fees will not be increased.

The sources indicated that these schools worked around the ministry's decision by increasing the fees of books, uniforms and transportation. Meanwhile, the Administrative Affairs Sector of Ministry of Education commenced procedures on Monday to finalize the contracts of 137 male and female teachers who were appointed locally for various specialties.

On the other hand, the appointment procedures for sociologists and psychologists will start by next week, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting an informed source. He said the first batch of local recruits was given the necessary documents required for their medical examination and fingerprinting at the reception hall, indicating that the initial step taken by the ministry was ensuring the accuracy of the documents so that the new teachers can join work at the beginning of next semester. The source assured that Ministry of Interior has given its approval to Ministry of Education to proceed with the processing of the documents, adding that the Civil Service Commission (CSC) also gave initial approval but on the condition that the embargo on the vacant positions is lifted in September.

Regarding the sociologists and psychologists who have been interviewed, the source affirmed that CSC has approved their appointments. He declared that the concerned officials will call them next week, as requested by the Acting Director of Sociology and Psychology Services Hessa Al- Ghanim through the Director of Human Resources Saud Al- Juwaesir.

The source indicated that 85 vacant positions have been created for sociologists and psychologists in the 2015/2016 academic year, hoping that the recruits can resume duty immediately after the procedures, which could extend to after the Eid Al-Adha holidays. He stressed that the Public Education Sector has requested for additional 75 positions for male English language teachers and is waiting for approval from the Civil Service Commission, as the request was not earlier included in the budget.
