German GDP grows as export accelerates


(MENAFN) German gross domestic product (GDP) extended by 0.4 percent in the period from April to June, up from 0.3 percent in the first quarter, driven by enhanced exports.

Imports rose by 0.8 percent while exports were up 2.2 percent quarter-on-quarters, resulting in a trade surplus that added 0.7 percent to growth.

However, investment in plant and equipment dropped by 0.4 percent, even though private households slightly improved spending by 0.2 percent.
