Qatar stock index drops 177.50 points


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Taking cue from major Asian stocks that nosedived on Monday, Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) index dropped 177.50 points, or 1.65 percent, when the Qatari bourse closed trading at 10,572.50 points today.

The daily turnover increased to QR499.69m with a volume of 13,009,251 shares from 8,327 deals compared to QR414.72m with a volume of 9,434,325 shares from 5,915 deals on Sunday.

Indices of all sectors ended in red today.

Telecoms index dropped today by 2.87 percent to 870.95 points. Real estate index decreased 0.43 percent to 2,469.58 points and Consumer goods and services index declined 1.70 percent to 6,254.22 points.

QSE Total Return index decreased by 1.65 percent to 16,433.44 points, QSE Al Rayan Islamic Index lost 0.67 percent to 4,104.08 points and QSE All Share Index dropped 1.67 percent to 2,828.31 points.

Of the 43 companies listed on QSE, investors exchanged shares of 41. Of them, nine gained, 31 went down, one unchanged.
