Oman- Two fined for violating Consumer Protection Law


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Public Prosecution in Salalah has issued sentencing in two cases brought in by the Consumer Protection Administration.

Two persons have been fined for violating the Consumer Protection Law.

The first case relates to an optics shop which was offering promotions without permission from concerned authorities. An inspection team had raided the shop which belongs to an eye care centre in Salalah.

The court imposed a fine of RO100 for violating Article 31 which states that establishments offering promotions must have permission from concerned authorities.

In the second case the court fined RO100 for selling fabrics that carried army colours.

The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) has advised business owners to strictly adhere to the Consumer Protection Law.

One jailed fined for raising prices

The Consumer Protection Administration in Dhofar has won a judgment against an expatriate worker for violating Consumer Protection Law.

The worker was fined and will be deported after completion of his jail term.

PACP had received a complaint that the accused was selling dishdashas for RO4 against the fixed price of RO3.

'He was referred to the Public Prosecution' a release added.
