Over 100 art enthusiasts turned up for a solo show by 13 year old Indian School Muscat student Avigyan Bhattacharya at the Al Maasa Hall in Ruwi on Saturday. The one-day exhibition featured 37 paintings.

Talking about his experiences Avigyan said 'I have trained under two great teachers in the country and I love painting both abstract and landscape. I love making portraits but I need to improve on it further.'

Avigyan said he tries to balance the canvas and colour. 'I feel that there must be a good balance. As an artist I try...It all depends on how you treat the subject.' The chief guest at the show was noted artist Ibrahim Gailani. All praise for the young artist Gailani also gave him a few tips on various techniques.

'He is a budding artist and has a genuine passion for painting. I love how he merges and plays with colours to create moods that are very uplifting. His works reflect modern as well as traditional aspects.' Some of Avigyan's works displayed at the exhibition included a portrait of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and characters from Indian mythology.
