QU professor wins award for research


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Dr Fathi Ihmeideh, Associate Professor of Psychological Sciences, College of Education, Qatar University, has won Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Arab Researchers 2014 in recognition of his scientific achievements.

He was awarded in Literature and Human, Social and Administrative Sciences category and was among 146 candidates from universities and institutions from the Arab world. He was recognised for his research on child rearing, impact of the home learning environment on early child development, and impact of multimedia practices on developing children's personalities. "The award contributes to promoting applied and scientific knowledge, raising awareness about the culture of scientific research, and fostering a generation of future researchers, experts and specialists in scientific fields," he said.

"QU continues to ensure that its academic and research environment is of a standard that motivates faculty and students to strive for excellence. It is committed to supporting research that is responsive to national needs and developing human capabilities by offering opportunities to enhance teaching and research competencies."

Launched in 1982 by Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, the award is given for medical and health sciences; engineering sciences; basic sciences; literature and human, social and administrative sciences; agricultural sciences; and applied sciences.
