(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has received a letter from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Ambassador Sanjiv Arora presented it to Foreign Minister H E Dr Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah.
Arora also presented a commemorative set of postal stamps and coins issued by India to mark First International Day of Yoga on June 21 and sent by Modi to the Emir as a token of India's appreciation for Qatar's support for the initiative.
The meeting also discussed ties and multi-dimensional cooperation between both countries, including issues related to the welfare of the Indian community in Qatar.
Condolence cables sent to India
Doha: Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday sent a cable of condolences to Indian President Pranab Mukherjee on the death of his wife Suvra Mukherjee.
Deputy Emir H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani also sent a cable of condolences to Mukherjee.
Qatar attends civilisation meet
Cairo: Qatar participated in a meeting of Arab focal points of United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) which began yesterday.
Committee for Alliance of Civilisations Vice-President and Ambassador Dr Hassan bin Ibrahim Al Mohannadi and Adviser to the Foreign Ministry Abdullah Ahmad Al Sada represented the country.
In a statement, Al Sada said the meeting focused on plans and projects proposed by Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and other Arab League members and discussed proposed budgets for them.
He said the projects covered the four key areas of Alliance of Civilisations - immigration, youth, media, and education.
Serbian minister meets Qatar envoy
Belgrade: Serbian Minister of Justice Nikola Selakovic met Qatari Ambassador Sheikh Mubarak bin Fahad Al Thani and reviewed means of enhancing relations.
