Israeli Forces Detain Two Palestinians North of Hebron


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Israeli occupation forces detained Sunday two Palestinians in Beit Ummar town, north of Hebron in the West Bank.
Palestinian news agency (WAFA) reported that Israeli forces raided northwest of Beit Ummar and detained the two young men after a search of their homes. The detainees are freed prisoners.
WAFA added that confrontations erupted with Israeli soldiers who fired live bullets in the air and tear gas towards Palestinian houses.
Thus, the number of detainees in Beit Ummar rises 16 during August. (QNA)


Israeli Police Prevent 20 Palestinian Women from Entering Al-Aqsa Mosque

Occupied Jerusalem, August 23 (QNA) - Israeli police Sunday prevented around 20 Palestinian women from entering Al-Aqsa mosque, while allowing Israeli settlers into the mosque's compound, according to Palestine's (WAFA) news agency.

Special Israeli police units erected metal barricades near Al-Aqsa mosque, imposing restrictions on the entry of Palestinians and preventing around 20 women from entering for attempting to fend off settlers' attempts to tour the mosque's compound.

Meanwhile, worshippers at the mosque chanted religious slogans protesting settlers' provocative tours inside the mosque's compound.

Israeli police have banned many Palestinians from entering the mosque for various periods of time under the same pretext. (QNA)



Israel Arrests Two Ex-Detainees, Summons Three for Interrogation

Hebron, August 23 (QNA) - Israeli forces Sunday detained two Palestinian ex-detainees from the Hebron area, and summoned three others to appear before the Israeli intelligence, according to local and security sources.

Palestinian news agency (WAFA) quoted the coordinator of popular committee against the wall and settlements, Mohammed Awad, as saying that forces stormed two areas to the northwest of the town of Beit Ummar, south of Hebron, and detained two ex-detainees after raiding and searching their homes.

The arrest of the two youths brings the total number of Palestinians detained from the Hebron area since the beginning of august to 21 people.

Mohammed Awad said that clashes erupted between forces and Palestinian locals; forces fired live ammunition in the air and tear gas canisters toward residents homes, however, no injuries or further arrests were reported.
