India says 3 militants killed in encounter with army in Kashmir

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Indian security authorities said on Sunday that three militants were killed in an encounter between army personnel and suspected infiltrators in the disputed Jammu and Kashmir. Exchange of fire between a group of militants and the army, late on Saturday, in Zachaldara area of Handwara sector, in north Kashmir, resulted in killing three infiltrators while injuring a soldier, All India Radio reported quoting an Army spokesman from Srinagar. This has come following cancellation of National Security Advisers' level talks, scheduled to take place today between India and Pakistan.
Pakistan rejected an Indian request to avoid meeting between its National Security Adviser Sartaj Aziz and the Kashmiri separatist leaders ahead of the Pakistani official's meeting with his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval leading to the cancellation of much politicized talks.
New Delhi accuses Islamabad of supporting and funding the armed groups in Kashmir, claims which Islamabad denies and insists Kashmir people are defending their freedom.
