Oman's OPWP opens bids for USD17.37m IWP projects


(MENAFN) Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP), Member of Nama Group, has opened the bids for the development of a new seawater desalination projects in Barka and Sohar.

The deals include the design, construction, ownership, financing, operation and maintenance of high efficiency desalination facilities with total of 531,000 m3 per day of Potable Water output.

The projects, which are estimated to cost USD517.37 million, will be structured as Independent Water Projects (IWP) with OPWP purchasing the Potable Water produced by the projects.

Furthermore, CEO of OPWP confirmed that the Request for Proposal (RfP) was released in April this year to the companies participated in the prequalification process that started in February 2015.
