Turkey's FDI drops 9.6 percent in H1


(MENAFN) Turkey's foreign direct investment (FDI) plunged by 9.6 percent to a total of USD6.3 billion in the first half compared with the USD7 billion invested in the same period in 2014, according to the Economy Ministry.

40 percent of total FDI came from the EU, while Asia took over 38 percent to an overall USD1.7 billion up from USD631 million in the same period last year, as reports showed.

The energy sector took the largest volume of FDI at USD1.27 billion, on a different note, 141 new foreign-funded firms were started in last June, creating a total of 44,245 companies with international capital operating in Turkey.
