Qatar National Library to hold 'Back to School' campaign

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar National Library (QNL), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), is organising an open event for children aged 4-11 years and their families to mark the beginning of the academic year.

The 'Back to School' event will take place on Thursday at Education City Clubhouse from 4pm to 6pm.

It will include activities to develop children's abilities and unleash their creativity through storytelling, arts and crafts, among others.

QNL is inviting all families to participate in the event, which is part of QF's mission to foster an engaged, progressive society.

"By sharing valuable information and cultivating creativity, QNL continues to support QF's commitment to unlock human potential for future generations," said Gihan Mohsen Baraka, Head, Library Relations and Communications, QNL.

"It does this by providing access to resources through its selection of online databases, regular training programmes, and social engagement initiatives."

"The aim of 'Back to School' is to bring together children and give them an opportunity to develop creative abilities and skills with their families," said Carol Mitchell, Head, Children's Services, QNL.

"They will get to learn new arts and crafts, including creating their personalised pencil cases, and listen to stories and songs. We believe education should be fun and that is what the event is about."

This is QNL's first 'Back to School' event and one of many social programmes at Education City that QNL organises and participates year-round to spread knowledge, nurture imagination, cultivate creativity and preserve the country's heritage for the future.

In addition to organising and partnering in local community events, QNL also participates in regional initiatives, programmes and international exhibitions and conferences.

Local community events include monthly book discussions, online databases training, lectures and children's events.

QNL recognises that children are the leaders of the future. They need to be equipped with resources, knowledge and skills to preserve the country's heritage, while driving their community into the future.

QNL provides access to digital resources for young people through its children and teen collections. Free access is available by registering at www.qnl.qa.
