Qatar Charity reviews projects in Balkans, Turkey


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Charity (QC) has reviewed progress of its development projects in Kosovo, Albania, Bosnia and Turkey to modify them.

Faisal Rashid Al Fahida, QC's EDO in the countries, visited QC headquarters and Qatar's Center for Training where he saw a video on QC's accomplishments in Kosovo since the opening of the office until 2014 and income-generating initiatives.

Al Fahida met Dr Farid Aghani, Minister of Environment, who praised QC's sponsoring of over 1,500 orphans and providing them with cultural, financial and other services and the charity's efforts to reduce unemployment through income-generating projects.

Al Fahida also attended a ceremony to honour distinguished students and a sports festival. Over 340 orphaned boys and girls attended.

During a visit to Albanian-Qatari School, Al Fahida met staff and students, including two female students who won top prizes in Albania.

He visited income-generating projects and encouraged beneficiaries to work harder and orphans to honour their parents and take care of their studies.

QC held a ceremony and distributed basic needs to orphans and other beneficiaries, including Albanian-Qatari Centre and students.

Al Fahida toured Rubik Mosque project, one of three mosques QC is building in Albania, and met Blendy Closey, Minister of Labour who praised the charity's efforts in the fields of education and culture through Albanian-Qatari Center for Languages and Computer, Qatari Center for Administrative and Educational Training and the school.

He held a separate meeting with Esmiralda Ashkiah, Member, parliamentary committee on Albanian-Arabic Relationships, who expressed gratitude to QC's contribution to welfare of flood victims at the beginning of the year.

Al Fahida visited development projects funded by QC in Bosnia and met beneficiaries.

He held talks with Bakir Izetbegovic, Chairman, Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on QC projects across the world.

In a separate meeting, Adil Osmanovic, Minister of Civil Affairs, praised QC's efforts and aid and stressed the need for more medical and cultural projects.

In Turkey, Al Fahida visited QC projects and reviewed the situation of displaced Syrians and refugees.

He also reviewed the final phases of Madinat Al Rayyan (Al Rayyan City) project funded by QC in cooperation with IHH. The first phase is expected to begin soon.

Al Fahida met Qatari Ambassador to Turkey Salem bin Mubarak Al Shafi and visited QC's associates, including White Hands charity, Syrian Education Commission, and IMC, with which QC signed an agreement last year.

Such agreements allow institutions to reach needy territories to provide relief, help those affected in Syria and offer healthcare to displaced Syrian children who are without regular healthcare services.
