(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Al Wakrah Sports Club officially signed a deal with the Portuguese Rúben Amorim in the presence of the club's Head of Football Sheikh Nasser bin Hassan al-Thani, the player's agent and the local media were also present at the club's headquarters on Wednesday evening.
Sheikh Nasser bin Hassan al-Thani said, "We hope that Amorim will bolster the team during the coming period. We signed Amorim based on the recommendation from our Head Coach Jose Mauricio. Mauricio had made an agreement with the Argentinean Gaston Sangoy to undergo an assessment period, during which the Head Coach was not satisfied with his performance. So Sangoy's contract was terminated by mutual consent. We have also signed Maher Youssef and Mohamed Mallallah."
Sheikh Nasser bin Hassan al-Thani praised the football squad, adding that the team is performing well in the preseason friendlies in Italy, and that all the players are in good form, especially the foreign additions to the squad.
During the press conference the Portuguese midfielder Rúben Amorim said that he wishes to succeed in his first experience outside of Europe and that he looks forward to fulfilling the targets set by his new club.
