Saudi- GCC and US discuss ways to combat terrorism


(MENAFN- Arab News) RIYADH: A US-GCC joint working group for counterterrorism concluded its meetings in Riyadh Thursday during which senior officials from both sides discussed ways of improving cooperation in the fight against terrorism and countering Iran's destabilizing activities.
Assistant Secretary General for Foreign Affairs at the GCC Abdul Aziz Aluwaisheg said the meeting which was attended by politicians and security officials from both sides is particularly important in light of the recent terrorist attacks in Bahrain Saudi Arabia and Kuwait in addition to the potential effects of the nuclear deal between Iran and Western nations. A press statement issued Thursday said an agreement was reached at the Camp David summit on May 14 to intensify cooperation between the GCC and the US in the area of Gulf security protection including joint work to combat terrorism and confront Iran's destabilizing activities.
