Informative workshop on PACP decisions fines held

The Directorate General for Consumer Protection in North Batinah recently organised a workshop titled 'Legal Procedures in Seizures and Administrative Fines'. A press release stated that the workshop aimed to provide participants with information regarding fines that are imposed for violation of rules.

The workshop was led by Saif bin Rashid al Saedi head of the department for legal affairs. Saedi defined the kind of fines and the six administrative decisions issued by the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP). Decision 424/2015 covers imposition of fine for every application PACP receives regarding price hike. Decision 258/2015 bans sale of electronic goods in unlicensed shops.

Decision 257/2015 regulates sale of used tyres while Decision 256/2015 bans sale of chewing tobacco. Decision 255/2015 prohibits the use of second-hand sponge and fabrics in the making of furniture.

Decision 254/2015 regulates trade and advertising on herbs. Juma al Weshahi head department for complaints said 'The workshop looked at training inspection officials and helping them raise their performance level when dealing with complaints.' Meanwhile PACP also organised an awareness programme for students in collaboration with the Directorate General for Education the release added.
