All 54 bodies evacuated from Trigana plane crash site

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Indonesian authorities have evacuated the bodies from the wreckage of a crashed Trigana Air Service plane, Okezone reports quoting the operations director of Indonesia's National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas).

The 54 bodies that were flown to Sentani in three separate trips will undergo identification in Jayapura.

"It [evacuation] is complete, 54 bags are already in Sentani [Airport], [in] Jayapura [the capital of Indonesia's Papua province]," Maj. Gen. Heronimus Guru said on Thursday.

Basarnas scheduled the evacuation of bodies on Wednesday, however, difficult weather conditions have led to delays in their transportation.

On Sunday, an Indonesian aircraft with 54 people, including five children, on board disappeared over the country's eastern Papua province. The plane lost contact with air traffic control when it was en route from Sentani Airport to the Oksibil district on the island of New Guinea.

Rescue workers reached the wreckage of the plane that crashed in a remote region on Tuesday.
