Turkish judicial group to hold first general assembly

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Turkey's Association of Judicial Unity is to hold its first general assembly next month, the organization has announced.

The association, founded in March to protect the independence of the Turkish judiciary, will meet in Ankara on Sept. 12.

With 4,000 members, the group is the largest of its kind in Turkey.

Secretary General Birol Kirmaz said the association's main foundation was to maintain a justice system free from threats and oppression. "The association's understanding that brings different trends together was welcomed by public and particularly the judiciary," he said.

The association's origins date back to the Judicial Unity Platform created in 2014 by Turkey's judges and prosecutors.
