Tehran protests over harassment of Iranians in Turkey


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs late on Wednesday protested to neighboring Turkey over "the systematic attacks" on Iranian trucks and nationals inside the Turkish territories.
Director General of the Ministry's Commonwealth and Caucasus Affairs Department Morteza Moradian called in the Turkish Ambassador in Tehran Riza Hakan Tekin to convey a protest note over the continued harassment of the Iranian nationals particularly in the eastern parts of Turkey, according to a press release by the Ministry.
The Turkish government must pay more attention to ensure safety of the Iranian trucks and nationals, the statement quoted Moradian as telling the ambassador.
On his part, Ambassador Tekin said his government shares Iran the concern over the unrest in eastern Turkey and is committed to protecting the safety of the Iranians and all foreign nationals in Turkey.
He promised to convey the Iranian protest to his government and report back from Ankara to Tehran, according to the statement.
