(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Hochtief ViCon, one of the leading service providers in the field of virtual construction and Building Information Modeling (BIM), has been awarded a contract to implement, manage and execute BIM on the central section of the Inner Doha Re-sewerage Implementation Strategy (Idris MTS02).
The contract was signed with the SHP joint venture consisting of Al Sraiya Strabag for Roads and Infrastructure, Hochtief Solutions ME and Petroserv, the German company announced yesterday. ViCon will deliver BIM implementation and management services for the entire project duration supporting all construction phases. ViCon's scope of work will include a BIM Execution Plan together with a BIM Modeling Strategy. BIM shall be used to support the processes design coordination, scheduling and progress monitoring and quantity take-offs.
The construction of the 14.7km long central tunnel section with related access and work shafts is part of Ashghal's QR10bn key programme to provide a long-term wastewater treatment solution and vital drainage infrastructure for the southern parts of Doha. The main trunk sewer divided in three construction sections will be approximately 45km long, with internal diametres ranging from 3 to 4.5 metres, and depths ranging from 20 to 55 metres. The project will start in Q3 of 2015, and is expected to be completed in Q4 of 2019. Recently, ViCon has been awarded with another contract in the Metro project to offer BIM Services for the RLR JV - a consortium comprising Rizzani de Eccher of Italy, Korea's Lotte Engineering & Construction, and Redco of Qatar.
The Red Line North EAG (Elevated and At-Grade) running from a connection with Lusail's light-rail line to Msheireb via West Bay has an overall length of 6.7km. The line includes two significant Doha Metro stations; Qatar University on the elevated section and the Lusail Center on the at-grade section. The work on this metro project started by the end of 2014 and will take over three years for completion.
ViCon's scope of services on this project incorporates initial BIM implementation documents consisting of an implementation plan and the modeling guidelines. ViCon will coordinate the BIM introduction on the project and initiate collaboration between the various participants within the JV. Having gained experience from previous local metro projects in Qatar, the Metro Green Line UG (Underground) and the Metro Red Line South UG, ViCon surely is the right choice for the JV to deliver the desired BIM outcome.
In Qatar, HOCHTIEF ViCon is involved in the creation of Lusail City. The company as also involved in the pre-construction phase of Barwa Commercial Avenue.
