(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Lekhwiya Sports Club Slovakian winger Vladimir Weiss will undergo a surgery on his left hand at Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital.
Weiss suffered a broken hand during a team training session three weeks ago.
Doctors have decided to insert a metal plate inside the player's left hand. Weiss will miss Lekhwiya's crucial Asian Champions League clash against Al Hilal August 25 in Riyadh.
Meanwhile, the Qatar Stars League champions will face the Iraqi national team in the friendly match, here at the Abdallah Bin Khalifa Stadium.
This will be the Red Knights last friendly before they fly to Saudi Arabia.
The team resumed training yesterday after playing their last friendly match last Thursday against Al Fujairah which they won 3-1.
Meanwhile, El Jaish returned to Doha after concluding their external training camp in Austria, during which the team played three friendlies as part of their preparation for the new season.
El Jaish defeated Austrian side LASK Linz by five goals, drew with the Italian outfit Helllas Verona 2-2 and lost their final friendly to Udinese 4-0.
