Jordan- Royal Health Awareness Society Receives an Excellence Award At Safe Kids Worldwide Forum


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) The Royal Health Awareness Society (RHAS) has received the Safe Kids Worldwide Award in recognition of its outstanding efforts in recent annual 'Road Safety Day' under the umbrella of the 'Third UN Global Road Safety Week' campaign.

RHAS was presented with the Safe Kids Worldwide Award following the successful launch of its Road Safety Day that gathered 150 students selected from 6 schools that implement "Think First" Program, which gained significant exposure and drew the attention of senior decision-makers in Jordan.

The award was received by RHAS representatives during their attendance at the ceremony held in Washington DC. RHAS further received notable recognition for its 'Think First' program, which aims to integrate injury prevention measures in the daily lives of children across Jordan. The program gives young students along with their parents basic information on the anatomy of the spinal cord and its functions as well the brain and the seriousness of any injuries sustained to it. It also highlights the importance of both drivers and passengers observing safety while on the road.

The Director General of RHAS, Enaam Barrishi, said "It is a great honor to receive this international award, which is primarily due to the unwavering dedication put forth by our team to ensure the success of our awareness campaigns. RHAS chief aim is to establish a safe and friendly environment for children to prosper in." The Road Safety Day was launched in Tlaa' Al Ali on May 7th under the supervision of the Greater Amman Municipality and patronage of Amman Mayor , Aqel Biltaji. The event consisted of educational and recreational activities that emphasize the importance of observing road safety measures. The Royal Health Awareness Society continues to represent the Safe Kids Worldwide initiative and fulfill its objectives locally through the launch of its many awareness campaigns. Safe Kids Worldwide is a non-profit organization working to prevent childhood injury, the number one killer of children in the United States. Throughout the world, almost one million children died of injuries each year, and almost every one of these tragedies is preventable. Safe Kids has a coalition of more than 600 members in the U.S. as well as partners in more than 25 countries. The organization aims to reduce traffic injuries, drowning, falls, burns and poisonings. Since 1988, it had helped reduce the U.S. childhood death rate from unintentional injury by 60 percent.

RHAS is a Jordanian non-profit organization, which was established in 2005 under the direction of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah to promote health and to empower Jordanians to adopt healthy lifestyles and behaviors. It also seeks to raise the health awareness of the Jordanian society through implementing preventative public health and safety programs based on the right to health for all.
