Indonesia trade surplus expands as imports decline

(MENAFN) Due to the import falling behind the amount of export, Indonesia saw a jump in trade surplus in July amid an already struggling economic growth.

Indonesia registered USD1.33 billion trade surplus in July, while Import declined by 28.44 percent to USD10 billion in the same month from a year earlier, reports showed.

Indonesia's economy extended to the slowest pace in 6 years in the first and second quarters by 4.71 and 4.67 percent respectively, according to reports.

Indonesia is the world's major exporter of palm oil, thermal coal, and the world's third largest exporter of rubber and cocoa, not to mention having the world's second-biggest copper mine.
