Afghan Forces Arrest 16 Pakistanis in Nangarhar


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Security forces Monday arrested 16 Pakistanis illegally residing in Nangarhar in eastern part of Afghanistan.
Local media reports, quoting a provincial police spokesman, said authorities tightened security measures ahead of Afghanistan's Independence Day celebrations this Wednesday.
Forces arrested 24 Pakistanis and later released eight who produced valid document to prove they reside legally in Nangarhar. The 16 detainees will be transferred to border guards at Torkham and sent back to Pakistan, the spokesman said.
Security personnel have been deployed in remote areas and traffic checkpoints to screen vehicles and people heading to Jalalabad city, he added.
