Kuwait- 'Schools, Colleges Protected Against Extremist Thought'


(MENAFN- Arab Times) "Kuwait is a bold stick for troublemakers who try to breach its social structure that has been well-knit for long years," reports Al-Rai daily Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Bader Al-Essa. In a press statement, Al-Essa asserted the Ministry of Education and all educational institutions in the Ministry of Higher Education are protected against any strange or terrorist thought. He pointed out the international community has been impressed with the unity of tribes and different social segments after the bombing of Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque. He said it was a chance to confront the troublemakers who thought they could divide the people and instill sectarianism among them.

Prove

He added Kuwait wants to prove to the international community once again that it is strong and it deserves to be applauded by the international leaders, especially since HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah won the admiration of the whole world due to the way he has been dealing with crisis-provokers keen on dismantling the nation. Meanwhile, Kuwait Youth Association expressed surprise over a proposal presented by a parliamentary member in which he demanded amendment of regulations concerning scholarships such that unmarried women who receive overseas scholarships must be accompanied by a relative and the country must take care of the travel and residency expenses, reports Aljarida daily.

It considered such a proposal as a violation of privacy and a form of restriction for women to receive good education, adding that it will also lead to wastage of public funds. Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Development at Ministry of Education Faisal Al-Maqseed stressed the important role played by the ministry in providing support and care to students in the Scout program. Delegation After receiving the Kuwaiti delegation that participated in the 33rd International Scout Camp held in Japan, Al-Maqseed said the ministry's goals this year are different from those of previous years particularly in the Scout program.

He explained that students have been exerting great efforts in participating in the activities and conferences based on a plan formulated by the ministry, affirming that this efforts were successful because of the big joint cooperation. Meanwhile, Acting Technical Supervisor of Scout Program Ahmad Farman expressed his happiness over the reception given by Al-Maqseed to the delegation and the instructions he gave them, adding Al-Maqseed was detailed about the benefits that the delegation gained from the event through the exchange of experiences and joint cooperation with other participating delegations.
