Kuwait- 'Educational Districts Prep For Mandatory Transfer Of Teachers'

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Educational districts are now preparing for the mandatory transfer of teachers from elementary schools to intermediate and high schools in the new academic year, reports Al- Anba daily quoting sources. Sources disclosed around 500 teachers are covered by the decision, clarifying that this step was taken due to changes in the elementary program and removal of some subjects in the first three stages like IT and Social Studies.

Sources said that keeping this number of teachers in the same level despite the changes will only lead to 'disguised' unemployment while their transfer to other levels will be beneficial in terms of covering the shortage of teaching staff in those levels. On the other hand, the Ministry of Education has asked its finance counterpart to allocate an additional budget of KD 45 million for the payment of the outstanding job performance incentive to the administrative and teaching staff for academic year 2014/2015.

Sources said the Financial Sector at the Ministry of Education is currently verifying lists of beneficiaries, indicating that the total amount for the excellent job performance is KD 53 million. Sources confirmed the Financial Sector has received the lists of beneficiaries from Hawally, Ahmadi and Mubarak Al-Kabeer educational districts. Sources explained the disbursement will not be done onetime as the process depends on the lists that have been verified and the allowances will be transferred immediately to their bank accounts upon verification.

Around 2,800 telephone lines in Shuwaikh Industrial Area have stopped functioning since Thursday due to the ground cable damage caused by the ongoing construction works to develop Jamal Abdul Nasser Road, reports Al-Rai daily. Customer Service Supervisor at Keifan Switchboard Saleh Al- Harbash said the technical team in the Installation and Complaints Section has informed the concerned subscribers regarding the problem and assured them that the telephone service will resume by Monday afternoon or Tuesday at the latest. He affirmed the contractor in charge of the project has started taking steps to replace the damaged cable, indicating about 800 lines are now functioning and work on the remaining lines will be completed within two days.
