Qatar- Over 50 students complete QA internships

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Airways' Al Darb Qatarisation Programme celebrated the third year for its Summer Internship Programme, as more than 50 summer interns completed their internships.

The Qatar Airways Summer Internship Programme gives National university students the opportunity to receive professional training and experience the aviation industry with one of the world's fastest growing airlines.

Nabeela Fakhri, Qatar Airways Senior Vice President Human Resources Employee Services said: "The Al Darb Qatarisation Programme provides students with summer internships so that they can gain valuable insight into the aviation industry as well as learning about Qatar Airways. These development opportunities enable them to grow and contribute to preparing them for the workplace once they graduate from university.

"Now in its third year, the Qatar Airways Summer Internship Programme gives the highest performing students further rewards for their hard work by unlocking more opportunities to work with Qatar Airways outstations and to attend specialist training with our strategic partners."

As part of the Al Darb Summer Internship Programme, two students were given an invaluable opportunity to gain experience and further their learning by working with Qatar Airways' partners Pratt & Whitney in the United Kingdom and Airbus in France. Summer internships for the Qatar Airways Al Darb Qatarisation students started in June at the Pratt & Whitney offices in East Hartford, UK, for two weeks' worth of training and ended in Toulouse at the Airbus headquarters for additional A350 training.

Engineering students Khalid Al Hajaj and Mohammed Janahi, attended the training and are some of the first Qatar Airways employees to see the new Pratt & Whitney engine. In addition to the theory tuition they received, the students had a chance to visit the customer training centre and airplane museum. Khalid Al Hajaj and Mohammed Janahi, were selected for the assignment based on their strong performance during last year's programme.

The Summer Internship Programme, which is part of the Al Darb Qatarisation Programme at Qatar Airways, aims to help young Qataris reach their full potential through the country's national airline. An Arabic word that means 'The Pathway', Al Darb highlights the different paths that individuals can take with Qatar Airways, providing students with real-life projects that add to their work experience and prepare them for a successful career inside the airline. Interns participating in the programme have the chance to work in a variety of departments within Qatar Airways in Doha and abroad. Locally, students may work at the Oryx Rotana, Hamad International Airport, or in one of several divisions within the airline, including Capital Projects, Commercial, Finance and Customer Experience divisions.
