UAE- Registration for Million's Poet TV contest open till October 31


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)Registration for the seventh season of Million's Poet TV competition will run until October 31 the Cultural Programmes and Heritage Festivals Committee - Abu Dhabi has announced.

The Poetry Academy had announced opening of registration for the seventh season immediately after the finale in May 2014.

Emirati poet Saif Salem Al Mansouri had bagged last season's competition.

The academy has received a "significant number of applications" in the last few months its organisers said.

The competition which is organised every two years attracts a large number of viewers due to its "close association with heritage and Arab authenticity".

"In this context the organisers remain keen on developing the TV programme while cultivating originality and creativity so as to provide ... viewers with a new experience of excellence" the committee said in a Press statement. Applicants need to strictly adhere to aesthetic and technical standards of Nabati poetry especially in terms of rhyme poetic language and method adopted in dealing with poetic purpose and technical construction of poems images and structures. Applicants must be aged between 18 and 45 years.

Applicants should submit a Nabati poem that does not exceed 20 verses. The submitted poems should be reviewed by the poet himself and sent in a printed form. Handwritten poems will not be accepted.

All candidates are required to send a photograph (with a white background) a copy of a valid passport (with validity of no less than 12 months) and the poem to - Wam
