Saudi- Coast Guard rescues nine fishermen


(MENAFN- Arab News) QANDAFAH: In a major life-saving operation in the sea the search and rescue teams of Jeddah led by the Coast Guard of Makkah rescued nine people on a fishing boat stuck in rough conditions at sea in the Abu Tair area.
The sea patrol team assisted by other organizations included a relief boat which was sent to rescue the crew of the fishing boat. The entire crew of the fishing boat were brought to port and are reported to be fine and healthy said an online newspaper.
In a similar incident the boats of the Coast Guard rescued another boat which faced the same rough conditions in the sea near the Al-Qattan resort. Two crew members of the boat were also rescued.
Col. Naji Al-Juhani spokesman of the Coast Guard in Makkah said that nationals residents and owners of fishing boats must follow instructions regarding safety and also heed to the guidelines for sailing.
'None of these instructions and guidelines should be ignored as they are meant for the safety and security of the people' he added.
