(MENAFNEditorial) Native of Los Angeles photographer Alex Scott launched a campaign on August 13 2015 to raise money for his night photography project.
Scott is a who has spent the last 2 years roaming the streets and freeways of LA in the dead of night searching for the perfect shots. He has taken thousands of daring photographs by climbing hills rusty fences and overpasses. He has slipped down oily embankments and dodged cops cars trucks and motorcycles to capture those rare brief moments when the streets and freeways are empty of vehicles.
Alex was born at home in Hollywood CA less than a mile from the famed sign and has spent the last 34 years in a love affair with Los Angeles. He lives a primarily nocturnal life and night shooting makes it somewhat easier to get into places not otherwise accessible to the average photographer.
He said "One of my friends told me that these photographs had restored his love for the city! I don't think I could have gotten a better compliment for my work. He made me realize that people get caught up in a busy life and the traffic in LA and they they lose their love for this amazing city around them."
This is the primary reason why Scott wants to make a book with his photographs. "I want to share these images with as many people as I can. I want to share the beauty of LA and its roads the way I see them. This is my view a look at this incredible city thru my eyes. I think that a book is really the best way to do that."
A book also allows the person to see the images all together which really demonstrates the full impact of the project.
Scott said that many interesting things have happened over the life of the project that will be revealed during the campaign. One of his favorite experiences was the night he found a baby kitten stranded in the middle of the 110 freeway. He got her medical attention the next day and found her a good home.
Scott's Kickstarter campaign runs for 30 days and is expected to raise a minimum of $30K. Donations start as little as $5 and go up to $2500 which gets one lucky backer a night photo shoot on the streets of LA with Alex. Other rewards that the backers will receive for their donations consist of postcards large art prints digital downloads and of course the book itself.
The money raised will fund the production of the book and an art show in Los Angeles where the book can be purchased along with individual prints.
