IndiGo orders 250 A320neo jets from Airbus for USD26.55b

(MENAFN) Airbus confirmed its biggest-ever order by number of planes by Indian budget airline IndiGo, which ordered a total of 250 A320neo jets, a deal worth USD26.55 billion.

IndiGo, which has developed quickly to become India's top airline by market share, has now ordered a total of 530 A320 family planes from Airbus, making it its largest airline customer.

A320neo is the re-designed and upgraded variant of the A320 family of planes and competes against Boeing's upgraded 737 Max in the narrow body market sector.

Founded in 2006, IndiGo has engaged a series of aggressive orders for Airbus jets as it attempts to win a larger share of India's fast-growing aviation market.
