(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Turkey's prime minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, will meet the head of the country's Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) to discuss a possible coalition government on Monday.
The move comes after talks between Davutoglu's Justice and Development (AK) Party and the second-placed Republican People's Party (CHP) ended without agreement last week.
Davutoglu will hold talks with MHP leader Devlet Bahceli at 2:00 p.m. local time (GMT 1100) at the Turkish parliament.
According to the prime ministry sources, Davutoglu will "talk with Bahceli without any prejudice".
Davutoglu is expected to highlight alternatives, including the formation of a government within joint and agreed issues.
He requested a meeting with Bahceli following the failed coalition talks between the AK Party and the CHP.
The prime minister met Bahceli on July 14 as part of a first round of coalition negotiations. Following the meeting, Davutoglu told reporters that the MHP had opted not to take part in a government.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had asked Davutoglu to form a new government on July 9, and negotiations between the AK Party and the second-placed CHP had been going on since July 13.
With the MHP holding 80 seats in the parliament, the two parties could easily forge a coalition, as only 276 seats are required to establish one, constituting a simple majority.
