Kuwait- LEAF Romp To Win, Travel Club Suffer Heartbreaking Defeat


(MENAFN- Arab Times) In the final week of the elimination round of the Philippine Bowling Association in Kuwait (PBAK) 2nd Season Team Tournament 2015, the aftershock was deadlier compared to last week a la 'intensity 8' magnitude when sixth placer Travel Club tumbled to the rubbles and the dangling ninth placer LEAF lifted to its strongbox.

Top seed Bowlersmate shivering much dropped to fifth place; Asian Air Safari back to second place, cliff hanger Cozmo muscled to third position; Enthusiastic All Star Strikers moved up while Thunder Dragon downed two steps backward and UAE Exchange remains clinging to the seventh position. In the biggest day of the elimination nobody knows who will be in and out and it remains a million dollar question.

LEAF keeping its fingers crossed with strong enthusiasm won the first games 921-854 and in the second game still trying to get across the finish line and take solace from bowlers consistency and another big victory 942-870. In the third game although losing the game 830-873 eventually lead to a win over its nemesis after the total final count 2768-2622. Blanca Sambajon (556) piloted LEAF supported by Cris Carungay (506), Marjorie Mercado (502), Rocky Castil (479) and Rene Marzan (419) while Bowlersmate 5-man team were Ali Adel Ata Khalil (524), Mohammad Ismat (498), Fe Ferrer (476), Jess Tolentino (475) and Hammed Yassen (342).

One of the excited game of the day was the encounter between Cozmo and Magnum 3172-2823. In the first game with zero handicap Cozmo ace bowlers showed supremacy with their red hot hands pooling so many strikes scoring more than a thousand points thus getting additional bonus points and duplicated the feat in the third game. Magnum won the second game with the help of its huge handicap. Ayad 'the Master' Al Amiri delivered 279/244/203 (726) followed by Farid Gabriel (62), Nasser Hajras (597), Fahad Abul (584) and Neveen Wasel (538). For Magnum the top scorer was Roshan D'Souza (504), Vinod Nair (503), Mathew Eapen (493) and Amaldo Fernandes (451) and Christine D. Souza (402).

For the second time Asian Air Safari snatched the second best when they easily demolished the 4-week winless team the Thunder Dragons by winning the 3 games 974-915/996-941/1007-860 (3002-2717) thus the Dragons went down to sixth place. Top scorers were Vernie Villaruel (592), Gani dela Cruz (584), Sonia Mathews (577), Norlan Balasan (575) and Zairus Javellana while Dragons have Eddie Pena (588), Mar Evangelista (503), Moises Amahan (498), Joel Tizon (488) and Eden Evangelista. Travel Club got worried and troubled for the second time when they started playing with a depleted lineup in two very important games, the penultimate and final day of the elimination.

In the first game they started playing with only three bowlers against the UAE Exchange who also belongs to the restless teams. Surprisingly, Travel Club won the first game 892-873 but in the second game the Exchanger retaliated and demolished the Dubai bound team still with two blind bowlers 963-806. In the third game, Bima arrived and played with just one blind lady bowler and again won the game 939-925 and the final score was 2811-2687 in favor of UAE Exchange. Victorious team big pointers were Rani Skeik (551), Myra Manalo (532), Mike Gonzales (530), Renato Pante (494) and assisted by Rudy de Lima and Freddie Santos while Travel Club bowlers were Dan Montano (589), Tony Zuleta (550), Perla Montano (463) and Bima Nitikusumo (170).

Other results: The battle of the tail enders it was an easy job for the Mangaf Strikers to outscored the Tsamba Strikers who showed up with a depleted line up 2543-2457; Steered by the team captain, Fadel Al Qassem who scored 187, 182, 248 (617) secured the fifth place after striking hard the Swooping Eagles 2925-2786 and the Original Pin Killers stopped Nusantara who suffered its six consecutive defeat 3045-2887 that name the OPK the top rank in the elimination round.

The triumvirate of Christopher Bush(670), Kingpin Greg Melancon (641) and Ishaaq Al Waahid (561) led their team to victory.
