(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) India summoned Pakistan's High Commissioner in New Delhi Muhammad Abdul Basit Sunday to register its strong protest over his country's continued ceasefire violations in the border areas in the disputed state of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Indian External Affairs Ministry summoned Abdul Basit to the ministry and registered the Indian government's strong protest over recent violations committed by Pakistani army that resulted in the death of six Indians and injured dozens others, the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry' secretary Anil Wadwa conveyed that the Pakistan Government needed to take necessary steps to ensure that its military does not undermine peace and tranquility along the International Border and Line of Control, said the Indian ministry.
Meanwhile, Abdul Basit stated that an effective mechanism was required to determine who is engaged in ceasefire violations.
New Delhi accuses Islamabad of supporting and funding the armed groups in Kashmir, claims which Islamabad denies and insists Kashmir people are defending their freedom.
