Qatar- Hospital holds breastfeeding awareness drive

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at Al Wakra Hospital organised an awareness campaign to mark World Breastfeeding Week.

The campaign was held in collaboration with Mother and Child Education Clinic, Nutrition Clinic and Pharmacy Department at the hospital and the Supreme Council of Health.

It raised awareness about the importance of breastfeeding and how to ensure better health for future generations.

"Breastfeeding can benefit the mother and the child. It also helps infants develop strong immunity against diseases. We aim to educate the public about benefits of breastfeeding by organising lectures, distributing flyers and offering advice to breastfeeding mothers," said Fatima Naji, Staff Nurse, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Clinic.

Highlights of the week included educational workshops and lectures in English and Arabic on the significance of breastfeeding and its impact on the mother and the child's health and difficulties breastfeeding women could face. A medical team toured the hospital to conduct an e-survey on breastfeeding.
