Negotiations over ceasefire deal in 3 Syrian cities reach dead end

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) The negotiations between Syrian rebels and Iranians over a ceasefire in Zabdani in Rif Dimashq Province and Kafria, and Al-Fouaa in Idlib Province have reached a dead end, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced Saturday.
The negotiators failed to agree a compromise due to differences over the number of opposition prisoners that the regime is ready to release to reach a deal, the London-based watchdog SOHR said.
The regime was supposed to release 1,000 detainees at least, the rebel and Islamic battalions are demanding the release of 20,000 detainees including fighters and supporters. The fierce fighting and shelling have been resumed in the three areas after the failure of the negotiation and following two-day lull.
