Turkish police officer killed in clashes with Kurdish militants


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) A Turkish police officer was killed in a gunfight between security forces and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in the southeastern Hakkari province on Saturday.
The deadly battle took place after PKK suspects opened fire at a police station in Semdinli district where four attackers were also killed, Anadolu Agency (AA) reported, citing a statement by the General Staff of the Turkish Army.
Earlier in the day three soldiers were killed and six others injured when their patrol hit a landmine in the Karliova district, Bingol city, southeastern Turkey.
The authorities blamed the remotely-controlled bomb blast on the PKK militants.
