(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Fifteen people were trapped inside an elevator at a mall for over two hours before being rescued, the Civil Defence Department (CDD) reported Saturday.

The CDD rescuers cut the concrete and the iron under the elevator's cabin, evacuated the people and administered first aid to them before taking them to a nearby hospital where they were reported in moderate condition.

The directorate of media and preventive education at the CDD urged those in charge of malls supervision to conduct periodic repair and maintenance to elevators to ensure these remain in serviceable conditions.
