Jordan- TRC rejects 5 contaminated shipments


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (TRC) said Saturday it returned 5 shipments to their countries of origin because they exceed the officially radiation contamination permissible limits.

It said 5 containers out of one million haven been denied entry to the Kingdom since May 2014.

The TRC Chairman of the board of commissioners, Farouq Hiyari, said during an inspection tour of Aqaba's radiation monitoring stations, that the rejected shipments contain fabrics,toys , housewares, footwear and a crane.

He emphasized the TRC's role in detecting and preventing illicit trafficking in nuclear or other radioactive contaminated goods through the monitoring centers stationed at crossing points.
