Qatari businesses keen to enhance cooperation with Chinese


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar's private sector has expressed its keenness to enhance bilateral economic cooperation with Chinese businesses to benefit from their experience, especially in the field of infrastructure development.

Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) on Saturday discussed with a delegation representing China's Ningxia Province joint means of promoting economic cooperation and trade relations, and cooperation between Qatari businessmen and their Chinese counterparts.

This came during a meeting between QCCI's Acting Director General, Saleh Hamad Al Sharqi, with the visiting Chinese delegation led by the Deputy Director General of the Trade Directorate of Ningxia Province, Hu Hwan Gong, in presence of the commercial Attache at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China to Qatar, Tsu Bin, and a number of officials in the Province.

Al Sharqi welcomed cooperation with China, praising the special relationship between the two sides, the Chinese economic achievements, and the Chinese product, which has its place in terms of quality and efficiency.

He said Qatar would like to benefit from the Chinese experience in infrastructure projects as part of the ongoing preparations to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup, calling on the visiting delegation to attend the exhibition "Made in China" due in Doha in December 2015 in the presence of a large number of Chinese companies and a significant participation of Qatar and the GCC Member States .

He also stressed QCCI's keenness to provide assistance that would contribute to enhancing cooperation between Qatari businessmen and their Chinese counterparts.

For his part, the Chinese official presented the Province of Ningxia, which has a total area of more than 66 thousand square kilometers. Its population stood at 6 million while its GDP exceed $30bn in 2014. Ningxia has a well-developed agricultural sector as well as a prominent advantage in its coal, solar energy and energy.

Gong invited the QCCI and Qatari businessmen to visit China and participate in the exhibition "China and Arab Countries," due in September in the presence of more than a thousand of Arabs and Chinese businessmen. He said that this event is the third largest exhibition in China, and has a great importance for Ningxia which represents a bridge that connects China and the Arab countries.
